What Do You Need To Become A Member?
You need to present 3 forms of identification to join. A minimum of €6.35 is needed to open an account and keep it activated. There is a once off membership fee of €1 for anyone over 16 years of age.
*Under anti-money laundering law, you have to supply documents to prove who you are and where you live. There are a number of ways that you can do this. You can prove your identity by producing any one of the following:
1. Proof of identity
- A valid passport or a current Irish drivers licence
Photo ID must show proof of date of birth & recent photo. The ID must be current.
2. Proof of address
(all items must be dated within the last six months.)
You will also need to provide one of the following documents with your name on it to prove where you live:
- A current utility (household) bill e.g. ESB, Phone
- Bank or Building Society Statement
- Document issued by Revenue showing your address
- A letter from a government department e.g. letter from social welfare
- Social insurance document that shows your address
3. Proof of PPSN
If you open up an account with Ardee Credit Union, you also need to provide proof of your PPSN. This is available on your;
• Payslip or P60
• Revenue letter
• European health insurance card (EHIC)
• Social Service Card (New version with photo is currently unacceptable)
Savings Limits and Restrictions
The maximum amount of savings for each member is €40,000. This amount is inclusive of all balances in Savings accounts.
What You Need To Join For Anyone Under 16 Years
1. Proof of Identity*
You can prove your identity by producing one of the following items;
- A valid passport for a child
- Full version of child’s birth certificate
2. Proof of address
You will also need one of the following documents with your name on it to prove where your child lives: All documents must be dated within the last six months, accounts can only be opened at the child’s current address.
- A current utility (household) bill e.g. ESB, Phone
- Document issued by Revenue showing your address
- A letter from a government department e.g. letter from social welfare
- Social insurance document that shows the parents address
3. Proof of PPSN, Personal Public Service Number
Where an account is opened for a junior member, proof of their PPSN is also required.
This is available on their:
- Social Service Card for the child (New version with photo is currently unacceptable)
- Letter from the Department of Social & Family Affairs confirming their PPS number

Savings Limits and Restrictions
Juvenile accounts for members under 16 years of age have a maximum savings value of €25,000 and a monthly lodgement limit of €1,000.
